Influence of Interleukin-4 and Interleukin-13 on serum immunoglobulin E in house dust mite allergy

چکیده
Background Th2 cells are the central mediators of the allergic immune response, as their activation induces it by cytokine release. The key cytokines expressed by Th2 cells and involved in the pathogenesis of allergic airway inflammation and immunoglobulin E (IgE) production are interleukin-4 (IL-4), IL-5, IL-10 and IL-13. The aim of study was to evaluate the in vitro effect of Der p 1, the major allergen of Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus (house dust mite, HDM), on IL-4 and IL-13 production by naive CD4+ T cells cocultured with dendritic cells (DCs) from HDM allergic patients, as well as their influence on serum IgE levels.

Immune Responses to Inhalant Allergens
This overview describes the nature of the immune responses induced by the inhalation of allergens. There is a dichotomy in that B cells have multiple mechanisms that limit the amount of immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibody production, whereas T-cell responses are large even in nonallergic subjects. With the possible exception of responses to cat allergen, however, T cells from nonallergic subjects h...
متن کاملCorrelation of total serum IgE and density of house dust mites with severity of Atopic Dermatitis
Background and aim: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic relapsing skin disease that commonly begins during infancy and early childhood. Research studies refers to a relationship between exacerbation of atopic dermatitis and exposure to house dust mite (HDM), but the role of HDM in the pathogenesis of AD is controversial. The objecitve of this study was to assess the correlation of density...
متن کاملMite antigen-induced IL-4 and IL-13 production by basophils derived from atopic asthma patients.
BACKGROUND There is increasing evidence for the role of basophils in the pathogenesis of atopic diseases such as bronchial asthma, atopic dermatitis and atopic rhinitis. Recently, it has been reported that basophils derived from healthy donors produce the immunoregulatory cytokines interleukin (IL)-4 and IL-13 after cross-linking of cell surface IgE. In addition to well-known inflammatory media...

متن کاملInterleukin-5 and eosinophil cationic protein in nasal lavages of rhinitis patients.
The production of interleukin-5 and eosinophil cationic protein (ECP) in the nasal cavity was examined in 24 patients with rhinitis who were allergic to the house dust mite. During a double-blind placebo-controlled cross-over study, fluticasone propionate aqueous nasal spray (200 micrograms) was administered twice daily for 2 weeks. After four basal nasal lavages provocation with house dust mit...
